モーツァルトやハイドンなどを代表とする古典派教会音楽のスペシャリストとしてモーツァルト・アカデミー・トウキョウを率いる。またビリオド演奏の指導もその黎明期から手がけ、ベートーヴェン交響曲全曲やハイドン、モーツァルトの主要な交響曲を演奏。
古典クラリネット奏者としてはベルギーの「アニマ・エテルナ」に在籍し多くのコンサートやレコーディングに参加。ブルージュ国際コンクール・アンサンブル部門優勝。帰国後は我が国の第一人者としてモーツァルトの協奏曲など主な曲のオリジナル楽器初演をする。
楽器製作家としてはすでに30年以上のキャリアを持ち、国内外で高い評価を得ている。もちろん自作の楽器で演奏活動を行っている。

Toru Sakamoto is a conductor specialised on secular music such as Mozart, Haydn etc. He is also a specialist on period performance.
As a classical-clarinet player, he was a member of Anima Eterna, played lots of concerts and recordings including Schubert Symphonys, and also winner of competitions Brugge(Trio van Beetohen). In Japan he performed most of master piecs in classical era.
He has almost 30 years of carieer as a insrument maker. It receives high acclaim both in Japan and Europe.
